Cardioprotection stimulated by resveratrol and grape products prevents lethal cardiac arrhythmias in an animal model of ischemia and reperfusion

ABSTRACT Purpose To evaluate the preventive cardioprotective effects of resveratrol and grape products, such as juice red wine, in animal model cardiac ischemia reperfusion. Methods Male Wistar rats orally pretreated for 21-days with products were anesthetized placed on mechanical ventilation to surgically induce reperfusion by obstruction (ischemia) followed liberation (reperfusion) blood circulation left descending coronary artery. These submitted electrocardiogram (ECG) analysis pretreatment incidence ventricular arrhythmias (VA), atrioventricular block (AVB) lethality (LET) resulting from Results It was observed that AVB significantly lower (25%), (37.5%) or wine (12.5%) than treated saline solution (80%) ethanol (80%). Similarly, LET also (25%) (0%) (62.5%) (75%). Conclusions results indicate response stimulated prevents lethal reperfusion, supporting idea this treatment can be beneficial prevention severe patients ischemic heart disease.
